2 Aims Outline how members are currently supported Establish what the organisation should do within the next 3 years Make aware of future ideas/plans

3 How are members currently supported? Members are currently supported via: Board Members E-mail lists (general/assessor) Newsletter Conferences (1 Day/Annual) Legal Helpline Local, Regional & National meetings Website

4 What support do you want? (1) NADO News Article Spring 2004 outlined the following needs from the membership: (Summary of responses) –Training to cover the various roles we do, e.g. support for students/management/budgetary –Develop an SLA to cover post-16 institutions/LEAs over the DSA process –Development of national guidance for post-16 institutions on the role of Disability Services

5 What support do you want? (2) NADO News Article Spring 2004 outlined the following needs from the membership: (Summary of responses) –Recognition of Disability Practitioners as equivalent to Careers Advisers/Counsellors etc. –Development of a recognised qualification –Support for embedding disability issues into the curriculum –Support for developing an inclusive environment for disabled students

8 Listening to NADP members (2) Question 2: Support for NADP members –What support do you want as a Disability Officer? –What support do you want as an Assessor? –What support do you want as a IT Trainer? –What support do you want as a dyslexia tutor? –What support do you want as a support worker e.g. note taker? –What support do you want as suppliers?

9 Listening to NADP members (3) You have 10-15 mins to answer the questions Feedback on the questions Incorporate your views into future NADP planning activities

10 Role of NADP Practitioner (1) First NADO Technical Briefing (2001) –Focus on Disability Officers in HE –8 recommendations covering areas such as the development of networks to reduce isolation We need to update it to reflect the changes within the sector

11 Role of NADP Practitioner (2) Please review the attached questionnaire –Are we asking the right questions? –Should we ask any other questions? –Your views will shape the revised publication –Findings will be shared with policy makers/funding bodies
