Mobile DAQ Testbench ‘Mobi DAQ’ Paulo Vitor da Silva, Gerolf Schlager
2
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Introduction Mobile DAQ test bench for commissioning of Tilecal in the pit Test up to 8 drawers simultaneously 2 main functionalities: –Test package using “DVS” –Data taking using “play_daq” Weekly status report in Commissioning Meetings Dedicated homepage – link on commissioning page (http://atlas.web.cern.ch/Atlas/SUB_DETECTORS/TILE/Commissioning/mobidaq/index.htm)http://atlas.web.cern.ch/Atlas/SUB_DETECTORS/TILE/Commissioning/mobidaq/index.htm Cooperation with TDAQ & Infrastructure (ESS) group

Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Setup in pit UX15 USA15 8 External PS Mobi DAQ Preliminary cables (TTC, G-Link, CAN, Trigger, HV,…) Tilecal racks
6
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Support for LV power supply manufactured Can now be mounted on Tilecal finger Advantages: –No scaffolding needed –Minimal interference with other activities
7
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Software Overview Created mobidaq account Setup Mobidaq ROD Crate DAQ –based on Tiledaq RCD made by Oleg Developed additional RCD hardware libraries –Readout Buffer, CAEN card Developed HV control program Working on test package Scope –Data taking a la Testbeam (using Run Control) Save raw data in files (Athena?, Database?) Use Monitoring to display results (CIS, pedestal noise,…) In future also take cosmics data –Functionality check with DVS Using test package Result “Ok” or “Failed” (Store results in Database?) Easy to use & fast check Final Atlas?
8
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) DVS (Detector Verification System) ATLAS TDAQ subsystem Run tests without expert knowledge Standalone tests (Test Package) Hierarchical structure Functionality: –Verify status –Detect problems –Diagnose problems Feedback given to developers
9
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Test Package Standalone tests adopted from the established tests from Mobidick & Ahab Tests are written for final DAQ framework and can be used in final ATLAS Tests will be performed using DVS TTC communication CANbus communication ~ADC integrator linearity ~ADC functionality ~BCID tests digitizer ~CRC test digitizer ~Pedestal noise xADC firmware version xCIS (2 gains) xL1A at 100 kHz xLED test xHV test Ready~ In progressx Not started

Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) HV control program New by Giorgi Arabidze Using Linux & Readout Buffer Full functionalities: –Set HV –Read applied HV –Read HV order –Reset HV_MICRO card –Read addresses –Set new HV SW address Already used to set addresses of all drawers in pit

Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Low Voltage Power Supply 3.5 kg Ca. 20 x 25 x 7 cm Full user configurability from 1.45 to 28 V Commercial switching power supply Price: 849 US$ p.p. Noise expected to be better than with Finger supplies – dedicated tests with one supply before final order
13
Tilecal week / Sept 04Gerolf Schlager (Cern) Last minute Update Possible Pilot Project with Infrastructure group – ESS (contact Markus Joos) Use of VP110 (CCT) instead of RIO Advantages Better software & hardware support Easier software development Newer system Cooperation in system installation and development To be decided…
