NZEI suggests that schools conduct a needs analysis similar to that required in cl9A.4(a) of the PTCA. This would identify the future structure, staffing and financial needs of the school and would be done in consultation with the staff.
4
Following needs analysis all positions in each category are internally advertised. Only permanent staff members can apply and only employees within each category can be appointed. NZEI suggests that you follow your normal appointment process.
5
Staff not appointed must be given one months written notice. The one month must be a full month at work. During the month both parties must make reasonable efforts to locate alternative employment. A reasonable offer of employment is defined in the agreement
6
At expiry of notice period if no work has been found the employee is entitled to redundancy pay. The calculation is: - 6 weeks pay for the first year - 2 weeks pay for each subsequent year - maximum of 30 weeks pay.
7
Redundancy includes all holiday pay and wages owing. A work reference or record of service can be requested.
