Graded Work Folders: I will send this folder home once a week with their graded work from the previous week. Please sign and return all D & F papers (anything 75 and below) and sign and return the folder. It is VERY important that you check your child’s folder EVERY day. I will send notes, communications and information along with homework in the folder, please remember to check folders daily. Blue Daily folder - to carry, papers, notes, homework, reading log, etc.): - records or his or her nightly reading assignments -Keep at Home will have items for your information to be kept at home -Return to school will have items that need your signature or response and homework Planner - will have daily conduct sheet: -Should be signed DAILY this will reflect your child’s daily behavior and any notes to the teacher or home. records or his or her nightly reading assignments

Language Arts Homework: All homework is due Friday. Reading passage on back Spelling Words Practice Vocabulary Practice Review Grammar Review DOL on Thursday’s Keep in Folder Math Homework (Monday –Thursday, Return Friday) One column per day. Show work on the back of the math homework. There is a place to check your daily progress. At times there will be pages from the textbook.

Math Grades Test Grades: After each topic (chapter) we will take a test on that topic, usually every 2 weeks Daily Grades: (Minimum 2 from each category a week) Math Calendar Journal—weekly or biweekly Math Facts Quiz-weekly Topic pages (example doubles facts page) Science Interactive journal—1-2 pages a week Topic pages (foldable about topic and answer questions) Behavior: Recorded from conduct folders.

Daily Grades: (Minimum 2 from each category a week) Composition: Writing Rubric – Comes from journal entries DOL – Sentences from DOL book Dictation Sentence – Included on spelling test Handwriting: Look at spelling test and give (100, 95, 90, 85, 80 grades) Reading: (Comprehension) From stories we read as a class AR (2 books a week) Phonic Reviews Test Grades: (2) (We can pull more if needed) Vocabulary Test (Thursdays) Spelling Test (Fridays) Behavior: Recorded from conduct folders.

Score 100 I have all of the requirements. I write 8 or more complete sentences. I capitalize at the beginning of my sentences. I use punctuation at the end of my sentences. I use my best handwriting. I stayed on topic. *Starting with 5 sentences these first weeks. 90I have 4 of the requirements 80I have 3 of the requirements. 70I have 2 of the requirements 60I have 1 or none of the requirements

September 18 th your child will bring home their first set of library books for the year. 2 nd Grade – 1 st and 2 nd nine weeks – 15 NF and 2 F @ 85% 3 rd and 4 th nine weeks – 20 NF and 4 F @85% *8 chapter books for the year* – 3-5 read aloud’s per nine weeks **Goals are divided up so your student will be working towards a weekly goal depending on their reading level. They will need to test on 2-4 books per week (at 85% or higher)and this will be discussed during AR conferencing with each student individually. Incentives During the School Year- Bookmarks, extra recess, dress passes, mid year goal party, game time, certificates, free time for meeting weekly goal, etc. I recommend that parents encourage their child to read every night and when possible read with or to your child. Once we begin our Accelerated Reading program; nightly reading will be required, so it’s a good habit to start now if you don’t do so already. 2 nd -5 th End of Year Reward Mystery Field Trip
