3 3 Regents Awards Regents Professor Service Award was established by the Board of Regents in 1996 to recognize and honor individuals at the rank of professor or equivalent who provided exemplary service as faculty 1997-1998 Board of Regents established the Regents Fellow Service Award to recognize outstanding achievement by the service, extension and research professionals within System agencies Between 2004-2005 the name of the award was changed for faculty from Regents Professor Service Award to Regents Professor Award

4 4 Regents Awards Call for Nominations is sent by the Chancellor usually in February to CEOs, CAOs, Executive Committee, CAO administrative assistants – acknowledges number of past recipients – summarizes award criteria – provides website address and contact information – states award deadline! Not submitting a nomination – Must let the office of Academic Affairs know via email if your institution/agency is not submitting a nomination

5 5 Regents Awards Professor eligibility – Full-time faculty, rank of professor or equivalent for at least five consecutive years within A&M System – Record of distinguished teaching, research or other creative and scholarly activities – Outstanding service at local, state, national and/or international level – Commitment to the university/agency or health science component

6 6 Regents Awards Fellow eligibility – Full-time senior level researcher or service professional (no less than 50% agency appointment) for at least five years – Record of exceptional leadership – Demonstrated high standards in developing and delivering programs and/or projects that have resulted in significant impact to the state of Texas and beyond

7 7 Regents Awards Selection Process for Professors & Fellows – Local (internal) selection committee formed Internal call for nominations – Nominees reviewed by local (internal) selection committee – Recommendations to CEO generally through CAO ** Joint appointments require review and approval by CEO of each component

8 Regents Awards 8 Abbreviated Selection Criteria Fellow Distinguished record of research/service Commitment to agency Scholarly Contributions Recognition by external constituents Evidence of honors and awards Professor Teaching (weighted 50%) Research or other creative scholarly activity (weighted 25%) Service (weighted 25%)

9 9 Regents Awards Required Documents – submitted electronically – Letter of Transmittal From chief executive officer – Nomination, review and selection process Letter of nomination and a brief description of the selection and review process – Nominee’s vitae (no more than 25 pages) Current and moderately detailed vitae summarizing nominee’s career – Summary presentation (no more than 5 pages) Prepared by nominating committee member written in third person describing nominee’s most outstanding achievements and contributions – Photograph (headshot) sent as.jpg with resolution of 300 dpi

10 10 Regents Awards Candidate Portfolio – Table of contents Nomination form – Now includes bio summary that will be forwarded to BOR Required documents Additional Information to include but not limited to: – Teaching, research, letters of support, patents, publications, evidence of leadership, awards and recognition

13 13 Regents Awards System level review – Review committee appointed by Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Regent Professor Award Review Committee – Vice Chancellors (including VC Engineering & VC AgriLife) Regent Fellow Service Award Review Committee – Vice Chancellors (including VC Eng & VC AgriLife) – Past recipient to review on behalf of engineering – Past recipient to review on behalf of AgriLife

14 14 Regents Awards Board of Regents – Nominee summary and other documentation Board of Regents Office – Invitation to special recognition ceremony Chancellor Recommendation – Nominees submitted for approval to BOR – Congratulatory letter to recipient from Chancellor cc to CEO, CAO.
