4 The User Designing interface before knowing about human is like designing a bridge before knowing about bricks and stone and iron and steel. You may think you know about human because you are a human, but in fact you don't know that much. –Because you are busy being a person –you have not taken the time to reflect about your behavior –Or to record other people's behavior and to understand it Science knows a lot about people, even if differences remain between them

8 COURSE OVERVIEW Course Method –Attend lectures –Critically discuss readings –Perform laboratory experiments (in group) to illustrate course material –Perform course project (in group) –Perform in-class activities –Two mid-term exams to assess concepts learned –Pop up short quizzes and minute papers

9 The web site for project Requirements: –The website has to be available for us to see –a point of contact. family member is fine, or friend –they don’t plan to shut the site or change it –Your report has a chance to have an impact beyond this course You can contact several websites and choose the one your contact looks the most interested. Ask them if a study has already been done. Ask for the report. Don't –take a big website. They are too complex they involve politics and strategies. You wont get an answer when you try to contact them –Social clubs at PSU Do: your parent’s, relatives friends, small businesses, non-profits, PSU big ones (e.g., elion)
