Nominations are due Jan 31 st (except the Jaszczak Award, which is due Feb 1 st ) 2013 and 2014 Curie Awards were given out at this meeting (by Peter Staeker, former IEEE President), as well as the first Glenn F. Knoll Radiation Instrumentation Outstanding Achievement Award

3 2013 Curie Award – Veljko Radeka “For the development of new radiation detectors, electronics, and systems that operate at the fundamental limits of performance, enabling discoveries in many areas of science” 2014 Curie Award – Malcom H. Hudson, Brian F. Hutton and Lawrence A. 4 Changes to NPSS Awards Approved by TABARC Award limits for the Phelps Grants (approved by AdCom by E-mail vote in August). The prize description now reads: Up to $3000/year to each NPSS conference sponsoring Short Courses, up to a maximum of $15000 per year for all grants. Funds are to be used to cover tuition costs and/or travel costs to attend Short Courses. Actual award amounts for individual grants and use of funds for applicable travel expenses are decided by each NPSS Conference. Changes to the PSAC Awards to make them consistent with the revised PSAC Constitution

5 Changes to NPSS Awards Approved by TABARC Renaming of the Radiation Instrumentation Outstanding Achievement Award to the: IEEE Glenn F. Knoll Radiation Instrumentation Outstanding Achievement Award Establishment of the: IEEE Valentin T. Jordanov Radiation Instrumentation Travel Grants (already existed, but will now will be listed in the TABARC Manual)

6 One Small Detail… Currently, the Delegation of Authority Agreement for the Jordanov Grants with the IEEE Foundation states that the grants are administered by NPSS by providing oversight and delegating the duties of selecting the recipients to a “Travel Grant Recipient Committee”, which is just the Awards Committee of RISC. Since the Jordanov Grants can now come from NMISC as well, we need to include the NMISC Awards Committee in the process. However, in practice, it’s really a RISC Awards Subcommittee that does the selection, which does include NMISC members. Nevertheless, we should revise the wording in the formal agreement to reflect how this is actually done.
