6 3. Writing proposal  Have a good idea  Match idea to funding source  Research sources funding process  State project objectives  State method to achieve the objectives  Base budget on objectives  Justify budget  Objective based evaluation

7 4. Evaluation by funding source  Can be a particular form  Can be done by site evaluator  You must do what you said you would do in the funding proposal or else you have to repay the money

8 OTHER HINTS  Use good writing skills (have others read the document)  Have support letters  Justify why you are asking for funds  Show why you can do what you plan to do  Make out a reasonable budget  Inkind contributions may be required (cost sharing, include facility, computers, clerical, your waiver of salary, etc.)
