2 Your English Grade Killing two birds with one stone All standards and rubrics are found in the back of the blue book  Read them  You will know exactly how you will be scored Literature Review = 44 points (11 standards) Instructional Portfolio = 4 points (1 standard) Presentation =16 points (4 standards)

3 What to cover in the presentation* What is your project? Why did you choose this project? What did you learn? What surprises did you have? What were the ups? What were the downs? Who was your mentor & why did you choose him/her? How helpful was your mentor (without being disrespectful)? What would you do differently if you did this project again? Time & Cost? What did you learn about yourself? What information did you learn through your literature review than connects to your project? * Use an order that works best for your project and presentation.

4 What the Judges Say: Comments from Previous Years Make it sound like you’re carrying on a conversation rather than answering questions Take your hands out of your pockets  Be more specific  Explain what you did Don’t read the question More organized Speak louder Introduce yourself at the beginning Sound more enthusiastic about what you’ve done Tell about the additional work you’re going to do Really, really short Know your information Watch your language in your presentation – keep it professional, no profanity Add pictures (or other visuals) in 2nd & final presentations Be prepared; don’t read from paper

5 Speech Be prepared  Write it  Practice it Alone In front of (a) group(s) Your FORMAL PRACTICE PRESENTATION is DUE FRIDAY Notes?  You may use index cards Do not write out everything word-for-word Use key ideas

6 Visuals At least one visual aid must be digital (41) Edit everything:  Power Point and Tri-Folds Grammar, spelling, consistency  Video Easy to load (pre-loaded?), music is school appropriate, writing is correct  Project Clean and helps presentation  Demonstrations Practiced multiple times, runs smoothly

7 Panel Members Teacher Students (a class) Community Members  Some may have experience with your project.  Many will not. Address your speech to the group somewhere in the middle
