3. Steering Straight Forward
Focus on your target area
Oversteer
Turning the wheel too much
Understeer
Not turning the wheel enough

4. Steering Straight Backward
Shift into reverse
Make sure you are looking out the back window
Put left hand at top of wheel, and right hand on arm rest or on the back of the passenger seat
Use brake to adjust speed
Turn the wheel in the direction you want the back end to go

Move the vehicle, if clear
Make sure vehicle does not drift in lane
Maintain speed if possible

Pull down with left, push up with right
About ¼ of way down, left hand goes over right

Start slowing down (10 to 12 mph by crosswalk)
Look for hazards
Start your turn
Accelerate

Make sure to know what is going on around the vehicle

12. Turnabouts Turn the vehicle around to go in the opposite direction
Pull into the drive way on the left side and back out

Move forward until you can see the center of the space with out your line of sight being cut by the white line
Turn sharply
Straighten wheels when the vehicle is straight in the space

17. Perpendicular Parking

Be about 8 ft away
Signal
Start turning when your front bumper passes rear taillight of vehicle next to the parking space
Straighten wheels when you are centered in the space

19. Leaving a Parking Space
When front bumper is even with back bumper of car next to you, start turning
Back until you are out of the space
Keep in mind you may have to make adjustments, depending on space

20. Parking on Hills Signal Move towards curb
Stop parallel to curb (8 to 10 inches)
Turn wheels
Up, Up, and Away
Touchdown
Idle towards curb
Let tires bump curb
Shift into park
Set parking brake (only during warm months)

21. Leaving the Hill Downhill Uphill Release parking brake
Shift into reverse
Check behind you
Back up a little
Turn wheels away from the curb
Shift into drive
Signal, head check, and if it’s clear leave the curb
