1 ECOLOGY ALZHIROVA IRINA FORM 11”A”

2 Ecology is a very popular word today. But what does it mean
Ecology is a very popular word today. But what does it mean? Ecology is a since which studies the relationship between all forms of life on our planet and the environment. This word came from Greek "oikos" which means home. The idea of home includes our whole planet, its population, Nature, animals, birds, fish, insets and all other living beings and even the atmosphere around our planet.

3 The poisoning of the world's land, air, and water is the fastest-spreading disease of civilisation. It probably produces fewer headlines than wars, earthquakes and floods, but it is potentially one of history's greatest dangers to human life on earth. If present trends continue for the next several decades, our planet will become uninhabitable.

4 POLLUTIONS Water pollution Air pollution Soil pollution

5 WATER POLLUTION We as humans pollute our lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans. Many innocent animals are dieing and our drinking water is going bad. Water can be polluted by sewage, domestics waste water, factory outflows of acids and poisonous metals, engine oil from the roadside that drains and garages, farm chemicals washed off the land by rain, building-site rubble, nuclear waste from power plants, and oil from wells, refineries, and tankers.Effects are often by the coasts and can kill fish, sea birds are unable to mate, whales are poisoned, and turtles can be killed. People drinking that water become very sick.

6 AIR POLLUTION The main reason of the air pollutions is industrial waste. The greatest harm to the atmosphere is made by factories and plants. The Significant harm to the air of cities is made by the motor transport.

7 ACID RAIN Acid rain is caused by the release of the sulphur dioxide and nitrous oxides. The main sources of sulphur dioxide are coal-fired power stations and metal working industries. The main sources of nitrous oxides emissions are vehicles and fuel combustion. Sulphur dioxide reacts with water vapor and sunlight to form sulphuric acid. Likewise nitrous oxides form nitric acid in the air. These reactions take hours, or even days, during which polluted air may move hundreds of kilometers. Thus acid rain can fall far from the source of pollution.

9 Soil Pollution One of the main ways to pollute the land is through agriculture. Farmers use chemicals to restore nutrients to the soil. They also use weed killers to kill unwanted weeds. Garbage is also another cause of land pollution. Humans produce tons of garbage each year. Wastes shouldn't be burnt because it pollutes the atmosphere and we shouldn't dump it in the sea because that pollutes the waters. An effect is that plants will take in the chemicals and we eat the plants. Garbage is buried but underground it breaks down and it will decay.

10 "GREENPEAСE"& "FRIENDS OF THE EARTH"
Greenpeace is a very famous pressure group. It started functioning in Its headquarters are at Amsterdam, but it operates in 25 countries worldwide. The aim of Greenpeace is to protect wildlife of toxic wastes, nuclear tests. "Friends of the Earth" (FoE) is one of the British pressure groups with an international reputation. Its general aim is to conserve the planet's resources and reduce pollution. FoE was established in 1971 and now it operated in 44 countries worldwide. It campaigns among other things, for recycling and renewable energy, and the destruction of wildlife and habitat.

11 DOS AND DON’TS 1.Ask your governments to make law to protect air, water and soil. 2.Develop international cooperation to solve ecological problems together. 3. Save water, gas, energy and other natural resources. 4.Keep your towns, cities and countryside clean.

12 Don’t waste water, gas, energy, natural resources.
Don’t poison the water, air and soil. Don’t dump or pour industrial waste into rivers, lakes, seas and oceans. Don’t turn the planet into a rubbish dump.

13 THE NATURE FROM POLLUTION!!!
WE MUST PROTECT THE NATURE FROM POLLUTION!!!
