2 Advising Technology Tools, Systems, and Information The questions I hope to address for you today: What’s an “advising tool” or “advising system?” Which tools are likely to be important for your work? How can you get authorization and training for these tools? How can you get at the data/information you need to do your work? How can you obtain assessment or aggregate student data to help you in your work (and what do I mean by “assessment” and “aggregate student data” anyway…)?

Goals Provide advisors with intuitive, easy to use systems and tools for their work Provide advisors with direct, easy access to the information and data they need for their work Ensure the data and information provided to advisors are accurate, timely, and appropriately sourced Tailor the tools and data provided to advisors to their particular needs based on role, division, unit, etc.
