9 Slide n°9 Support to LIFE Beneficiaries Assistance and advice to projects on reporting, Common Provisions appliance and other issues MoT acts as a ‘technical interface’ encourages exchange of experiences and stimulate creation of thematic networks But are advisors - the Commission is NOT bound by MoT opinions! 10 Slide n°10 Communication support Assessment of Communication compliance with CP and Proposal duties Assist in liaising with other LIFE projects with similar objectives/themes => thematic networks Liaise with Communication Team for a wider dissemination of project’s information. 11 Slide n°11 It is always necessary to send to the Monitoring Team copy of all correspondence sent to the Commission (same documents, same annexes). In case you need simple clarifications, it is better to send an email message only to the Monitor, without contacting directly the Commission. 12 Slide n°12 It is advised to contact the Monitoring team by email. It is necessary to include always the project reference in the “subject” of the email messages, e.g.: LIFE07/NAT/IT/000450 CENT.OLI.MED, or LIFE07/ENV/IT/000388 CARBOMARK. 13 Slide n°13 monitoring visits:  make sure that all beneficiaries (at least the National ones) are represented;  prepare the needed documentation (updated summary of expenses, timesheets, etc.);  in case of joint visits with the EC Officers, foresee press releases, invite the media, etc. Dealing with the Monitoring Team LIFE09 Kick-off Meeting, 13 January 2011, Warsaw

14 Slide n°14 Dealing with the Monitoring Team In case you foresee coordination meetings with all beneficiaries (also the foreign ones) or public events (conferences, workshops, etc.) please inform the Monitoring team in advance, to verify the possibility to carry out a monitoring visit at the same occasion. 15 Slide n°15 Please be reminded that the Monitoring Team is not entitled to take any decision on behalf of the Commission (Art. 9.2 CP). Please be aware that travel or accommodation expenses benefiting the Monitoring Team cannot be accounted for, as they are ineligible (Art. 26 CP). 16 Slide n°16 Working with the Monitoring Team Always keep the Monitoring Team informed => contact them whenever you feel it is needed Always send one copy of everything that goes to the Commission to the Monitoring Team (see CP !) Send a draft copy of reports to the Monitoring Team But note - the Monitoring Team provides support; their approval does not mean acceptance by the Commission services!
