6. Family Immigrant Immediate members of the family of someone already living in Canada are allowed in as a family immigrant. You do not need to pass a test but a family member must sponsor you. Sponsorship means they must pay for all your expenses (food, rent, clothes).

7. Refugee The last type of immigrant allowed in Canada is a refugee. Refugees are fleeing their home country for various reasons (think of push factors) and believe they will be killed or tortured if they stay. Refugees are allowed into Canada on humanitarian grounds and cannot be turned away once they are here.
