3 EDUCATION/TRAINING Coaching includes exercise and sport science, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition and fitness, physical education, and sports medicine High school diploma or equivalent College coaches must have a bachelor’s degree

4 SALARY The median pay is $28,340 per year

5 ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES Decision making skills Communication skills Chose the appropriate player for the position Be able to come up with a strategy that yields the best chance for winning the game

6 JOB OUTLOOK The employment in coaches is expected to grow 29 percent from 2010 to 2020.

7 DUTIES OF A COACH Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of athletes Call plays and make decisions Plan strategies Train athletes to their best performance Have faith in the team Make sure everyone has sportsmanship Provide direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for game

8 DUTIES CONTINUED Instruct to the players the rules and proper techniques of the game Be a good role model to the players and the opposing team Teach players not to brag a lot but have enough confidence in themselves

9 HOW DO COACHES USE MATH Coaches keep score, (have to add points every time a team scores). They COUNT and make sure they have the right amount of players on the team.
