2 Aims of the Lesson We will learn today of the importance of careful measuring using spoons, scales and measuring jugs. We will learn to use the oven safely.

3 Ingredients 200g Self Raising flour 1 x 5ml spoon baking powder 1 x 15ml spoon sugar 50g margarine Pinch salt 150ml milk 25g sultanas or grated apple

4 Method – Step 1 Set oven to 200 C. Sieve flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl. Add sugar and salt.

5 Method – Step 2 Add margarine and chop up with a knife. Rub in marg with fingertips until your mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Add sultanas or apple if using.

6 Method – Step 3 Add milk gradually and mix, using a knife, until all ingredients are combined. Turn mixture out onto a lightly floured surface.

7 Method – Step 4 Knead lightly on the floured surface. Roll or press out to approx 2cm thick.

8 Method – Step 5 Cut into rounds. Place on baking tray in the centre of the oven and bake for 10 mins until golden.

9 Method – Step 6 Using oven gloves remove from oven and place on a wire tray to cool.
