2 27/05/2016 Hazard Control Methods zThere are four main ways used to control hazards  Elimination  Engineering Controls  Administrative Controls  Personal Protective Equipment 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

4 27/05/2016 Engineering Controls zIncludes designs or modifications to plant, guards, equipment, ventilation systems, and processes that reduce the source of the exposure. 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

5 27/05/2016 Administrative Controls zControls that alter the way the work is done, such as standards and operating procedures (including training, housekeeping and equipment maintenance and personal hygiene practices) 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

6 27/05/2016 Personal Protective Equipment zEquipment worn by individuals to reduce exposure such as contact with chemicals or exposure to noise. 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

9 Inspections zQ - Why do we inspect? zA - To be proactive in monitoring all aspects of health and safety. 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

10 Engineering responsibility zAs an Engineer you will be expected to carry out inspections on processes and equipments. zA standard form or checklist will be used for consistency. zThere should be room on the form for suggestions and comments relating to the inspection. 27/05/2016 John Wiliams

12 Task zYour task is to use a word processing Software application such as Microsoft Word to produce an inspection Sheet/Form. zYou must give at least 2 examples of the following inspection area : Fire, Exits/Entry points, Lighting, First Aid, PPE, Storage.
