2 What is a colored pencil?   a pencil containing a wax & pigment as its "lead".   They are semi-opaque accept for white, cream and grey.   A good quality brand we will be using is Prismacolor Pencils.

3 Blending…  the process of combining layers of color together by over lapping lightly  Use light colors over darks to blend within the same color family  Example: Use yellow to blend warm colors in the apples. See how the red is blended into yellow so the apples look realistic!

4 Burnishing  using a white or light colored pencil with heavy pressure over several light layers of built up color.  It makes the colors look brighter, sometimes lighter and can give an image a polished or reflective look. With Burnishing

7 Adding Value and Shading  When trying to create realistic shading with colored pencil, use a complimentary color instead of black.
