Safety on the Internet A Lesson by Ms. Grande on Keeping Safe While Having Fun

An Overview With Moby and Tim

Important Things To Remember When Online Never share important information. Never meet people you only know from the internet. If something on a site makes you uncomfortable, leave. If you are worried about something you see, tell someone. People are not always honest about what they tell you about themselves.

Information Privacy With Moby and Tim

Things You Should Not Share Never give out personal information! This includes: Name Home address School Phone number Selfies And much more!

Cyberbullying With Moby and Tim

What It Means To Be A Cyber Bully Just like in the real world, bullying is a very real thing on the internet. In many ways, bullying online can be even more damaging than in person. People are much more likely to say things they would never say out loud under the anonymity of the web. The things they say also travel at much greater speeds and to a much wider audience on the internet. Once it starts, it is very hard to reverse. Always treat people with the same respect you would like on the internet. Never try to hurt someone by abusing the power of the web. If you feel someone is doing harm to you online, immediately tell someone. Your parents and teachers will help you and keep you safe.

Social Media Safety Social Media is a great way to keep in touch with people and share stories and pictures but it is important to remember that once information goes on the web, there is not stopping who can get it. You may be sharing a great selfie with all your buddies on Instagram or updating Facebook about the tasty new restaurant you are at, but your friends are not the only ones who can see it. People looking for trouble can track you down or share your information with the whole world if you aren’t careful. Always be aware of what you are posting. Be cautious about posting names, places, and pictures. Also make sure you familiarize yourself with the privacy settings on each site. When in doubt, be sure to ask your parents or teachers.
