3. At the Federation’s centre Central administration Cross-collegiate academic functions (External System; SAS; research libraries) SAS as University of London research hub for humanities/social sciences, answerable to Collegiate Council but represented on it

4. What is SAS? Ten separate research institutes representing individual disciplines and interdisciplinary subject areas, with a central administration: Advanced Legal Studies, Americas, Classical Studies, Commonwealth, English Studies, Germanic & Romance Studies, Historical Research, Musical Research, Philosophy, Warburg Centre for advanced study embracing libraries and library services, fellowship programmes, postgraduate programmes, academic events, research training, research projects, consultancy. UL federation within a UL federation?

5. But… Major public funding for SAS does not currently come from colleges or University HEFCE Special Funding terms Institute Directors can be seconded from any HEI nationwide National Research Promotion and Facilitation mandate in Crewe 2007
