What should we have  Safety Seat belts  Air Bags  Anti Lock Brakes  Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

Safety Seat belts  A must-have feature in cars  Protects the passenger from harm by reducing inertia  Secure the occupant against harmful movement that may result from a collision or a sudden stop.

 Stops the wearer from hitting hard interior elements of the vehicle, or other passengers  Newton’s third law: -If object A exerts a force on object B, object B will exert an equal force on object A  Hence, seat belts will exert a same force back on the passenger when passenger is thrown forward in the accident.  Thus protect the passenger.

Air Bags  one of the most necessary features in crash  protect the occupants’ faces and heads from striking the interior car parts.  in a head-on crash special sensors need only 1\20th of a second to fit the bag

 It inflates when the car decelerates extremely quickly  results in a decrease of force acting on the passenger.  With the aid of seat belts, both can achieve high-level safety

Anti Lock Brake(ABS)  prevent a car's wheels from locking during panic braking.  It allows the car to slow in a more controlled manner,  the driver can thus maintain better steering control and avoid an accident.  Improves vehicle control

 There are four main components to an ABS: -speed sensors, valves, a pump, and a controller.  When the ABS system is in operation the driver will feel a pulsing in the brake pedal  this comes from the rapid opening and closing of the valves.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems  Use a warning light on the dashboard to alert the driver when a tire is significantly under-inflated.  As tires in this condition are much more prone to tire failure (a blow out).  Standard for this warning: -when the tire pressure is 25% below the tire manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure.  Prevent possible accident from occurring
