1 The Prairie By: Taylor

2 Location Prairies are only found in the interior of North America.
They are in these states: Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, South and North Dakota, and Illinois. Prairie is also found in these areas of Canada: Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

3 Landscape Tall grass prairie areas have rich soil, moderate precipitation and tall grasses over five feet tall! Short grass prairie areas with little precipitation and short grasses less than two feet tall. The prairie has very cold winters, and hot summers.

4 Plants/Animals Mongoose are small, meat eating mammals with sleek bodies. The Meerkat is a type of Mongoose. Big Bluestem Grass is one of the 4 most common grasses. It’s usually in big patches. It can reach up to 10 feet in height.

5 Plants/Animals The Swift Fox is a delicate fox. Standing only a foot tall and 31 in. long. The Swift Fox gets it’s name because it can run up to 25 miles an hour.

6 Fun Facts Over 100 species of plants can occur in less than 5 acres!
