According to ACSA…… (Association of California School Administrators) Coaching is an integral part of developing new administrators.

Importance of Coaching Leaders are facing many challenges Coaching builds leadership capacity Role of principal has been redefined and requires a new set of skills Traditional administrative programs can’t do it alone Research supports the need for leadership coaching -ACSA, 2008

Let’s hear what participants have to say about the coaching component….

Why Bridges? Models a professional learning community by keeping each cohort small and infusing the skills and strategies of creating a “Professional Learning Community” throughout all the coursework. Course instructors are all current practitioners and provide critical feedback to ensure participant success. The program utilizes a coaching model to enhance learning as each participant advances through the program. Models a standards-based system in which each participant is supported in “meeting standard” as opposed to receiving a grade and moving on.

Standards-Based Grading Students are assessed based on the performance of “meeting standard” on the established criteria. All assignments receive instructor feedback. Assignments “not yet to standard” are revised and resubmitted. Focus is on a high level of learning.
