21 S YNTHESIS The ideas of Columbus, native population decrease, and the increase of Atlantic Slave Trade are all connected…how??? With the “discoveries” of Columbus and other explorers, European nations see vast resources in Americas and pursue full-scale colonization. Native populations are either decimated by disease, murdered, or worked to death on plantations/in mines African slaves are needed to do the labor in fields and in mines once the native populations are reduced
