3 SYMPTOMS, PREVENTION, TREATMENT  MERS causes high fever, cough, severe shortness of breath, and diarrhea  Some people also develop kidney failure  Currently no vaccines for MERS  The medical care is used to support the signs and symptoms MERS causes  Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, as they are common ways for a virus to enter your body  Avoid sharing items that come in contact with your body with other people.
