Write to analyze the PURPOSE and EFFECT of a text using relevant supporting details 3. Determine the need for punctuation and conjunction to avoid awkward- sounding sentence fragments and fused sentences 4. 4 Objective(s): Students will be able to: Correct sentences for errors in subject-verb agreement with intervening phrases & use idiomatically appropriate preposition, especially in combination with verbs (COU 20-23) Identify and analyze the use of rhetorical appeals in nonfiction, persuasive texts (ethos, logos, pathos) of varying complexity Write to analyze the PURPOSE and EFFECT of a text using relevant supporting details Homework: In preparation for your timed, in-class writing assessment tomorrow, read and annotate Benjamin Banneker’s letter to Thomas Jefferson and complete the graphic organizer. You should also review the various rhetorical appeals and techniques. Both your annotations and the graphic organizer will be collected tomorrow as part of your Unit 2 Summative Assessment.
