Multi Genre Writing Final AP World History Miss Glick’s Example

Introduction I have chosen to complete my multi-genre writing final on myself because I think it will be fun to do as an example for my students. I was born on October 14, 1985, making me 23 today. I have moved around a lot living in Virginia, Georgia and the great state of Pennsylvania. I choose to become a teacher at a young age and worked very hard to meet my goal. I have two little brothers, Zack and Sean. My parents are Charlene and Bob. I love to travel and in the future plan to see many more countries than the eight I have already seen.

Maps of Places I Have Lived I was born in Manassas Virginia. Then I moved to Marietta Georgia when I was in 3 rd grade. Then in 1996 my Mom moved us to Malvern Pennsylvania, where I went to middle school and high school. After graduating from Shippensburg University I got my first teaching job in York City Pennsylvania, where I also bought my first house.

Anecdote: “Why I became a Teacher” I have dyslexia which means I sometimes see things differently than others. The wiring from my eyes to my brain was not fully developed which means I can not “read” a word, I have to memorize it. When I’m rushed, tired and or stressed I sometimes struggle to write or say things correctly or even say them backwards. Growing up I was taken out of my regular education class to get help with reading. No one ever helped me with math which explains my lack of love for the subject. Growing up i had some good teachers and a lot of bad ones. Teachers who didn’t understand that I wasn’t stupid, I was just different. I could still learn everything that my classmates could but I had to do it in my own way. I soon realized that maybe I could do a better job than some of my teachers. I soon made my life's goal to make sure that as a teacher I never made students feel the way that some of my teachers made me feel … stupid. I worked very hard in high school and then in college to meet this goal. I graduated in the top of my college class. I came to work in a place and school where I knew I could make a difference. Not just in the classroom but in the community and eventually In the world.

Major World Events of 1985: Gorbachev becomes Soviet leader. The Coca-Cola Company introduces New Coke. After marketing problems, Coca-Cola returns to the original formula after less than 3 months. Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior is bombed by the French government during protests of it's nuclear testing in the Pacific Titanic wreckage found and filmed by robotic camera in July Extra second added to the calendar year. Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame is opened. Rock Hudson, the first major public figure to die to AIDS, dies on October 2. Nintendo home entertainment system introduced.

R = Ready to make the world a better place. A = Awesome at playing field hockey. C = Changing the way people view my students and how my students see the world. H = Hundreds, the amount of books I want to have read before I die. E = Equally nice and / or mean to all people L = LOVE my family, friends, students and life!

List of things I want to do before I die: 1.Travel to at least 50 different countries. 2.Learn a new language. 3.Be on a TV show. 4.Become the best teacher I can possibly be. 5.Write a book and have it published. 6.Remodel my house. 7.Make at least $100,000 in one year (I can only dream). 8.Create a scholarship in my mothers name. 9.Become an amazing mother. 10.Meet and marry the man of my dreams. 11.Run for an official election. 12.Open my own company. 13.Make York City a better and safer place to live.
