2 basic|victoria basic assessment & support in intensive care Intensive two day course –Faculty consists entirely of ICU Specialists –17 Lectures –10 Skill Stations –continual assessment & final compulsory exam Designed as an ICU induction course –Introduction for doctors new to the care of the acutely & critically ill –Ensures a standard of care for all junior staff –Removes the mystery of ICU equipment, procedures & techniques

3 Feedback Questionnaire Completed by all candidates All aspects of course evaluated –Each question scored 0 – 5 (5 = best) –Option to leave additional comments

8 Expected Standard Require >50% to successfully complete course. Unsuccessful candidates given opportunity to read manual again and retake test. Focus attention to deficiencies in knowledge Candidate assessment given to referring hospital

10 Future Improvements Candidate continual assessment 60% pass mark for MCQ –If < 60%, candidate must have favourable skill station assessments. Lectures & Skill stations updated –Relevant topics –New Equipment Phantom for US guided CVC Cannulation teaching Compulsory attendance for all Alfred ICU junior staff
