2 The Amphiteatre of Cagliari is the most important public building of the Roman remains in Sardinia.

3 The amphitheatre games took place in a wide levelled elliptical area, the “ARENA”.

4 The arena was probably built in the last decade of the I century AD

5 It is divided in 3 tiers as the social classes in the Roman empire.

6 The arena has several corridors and other service areas connected to it.

7 The main entrance, used only by the high social classes, was the one we now use to get into the botanical garden.

8 In the amphitheatre there is also a jail for the prisoners sentenced to death.

9 In the amphitheatre there are some remains of an altar, carved in the rock. Another little altar is placed in a room which was a funeral room. Our Projects
