3 The Roman Army  A legion had commanders, officers and ordinary soldiers.

4 Roman Soldiers The Roman army was made up of groups of soldiers called legions. There were over 5,000 soldiers in a legion.soldiers

5 The Roman army was divided into legions of about 5,000 men.

6 Julius Caesar  Julius Caesar was born on July 13 100 B.C. He was a great soldier and general.

7  He was stabbed to death at a meeting of the Senate in 44 BC and the era of the Republic ended.

8  In 55 B.C. Caesar, with 80 ships and 80.000 men, tried to invade England but he didn't succeed.

9  Augustus was the nephew of Caesar and the first Emperor of Rome.

10  The next year Julius came back with 800 and again he didn't succeed to conquer South-England.

11 Roman baths There were 170 baths in Rome during the reign of Augustus and by 300 A.D that number had increased to over 900 baths

12  Every town had its own bath complex (like a large swimming pool).

13 Roman Bathhouses  You can see remains of a Roman bath in the city of Bath, in Somerset.

14 Rich villa owners would had their own baths in their homes.villa

15  The Romans loved washing and bathing and rather it being done in private, the Romans built magnificent public bath houses in towns across their empire.

16  A public bath was built around three principal rooms.

17 ROMAN CLOTHING  Men wore a knee- length tunic (chilton), either sleeveless or short- sleeved.

18  Important Romans dressed in a long robe called a toga.

19  Children wore a special charm around their neck called a bulla.
