TN Graduation Requirements Earn a total of 225 credits Pass specific subject requirements English: 40 credits (4 years) History/Social Science: 30 credits (3 years) Laboratory Science: 20 credits (2 years) Fine Art or Language Other Than English: 10 credits (1 year) Career Technical Education (CTE): 10 credits (1 year) Physical Education: 20 credits (2 years) Health: 5 credits (1 semester) Electives: 60 credits

Credits & Grading Students may earn 5 credits per class each semester for a total of 30 credits per semester or 60 credits per year Progress reports every six weeks o Grading is cumulative Credits and final grades are earned at semester’s end

Freshman Grades Count! Colleges verify that 9 th grade CP classes are passed with at least a C grade Recommendations for classes for future/advanced courses are dependent on grades in 9 th grade prerequisite classes GPA for honors at graduation is cumulative GPA is used for California Scholarship Federation

UC/CSU Eligibility Requirements (“a-g”) a. History/Social Science – 2 years b. English – 4 years c. Math – 3 years* (Math Course 1, Math Course 2, Math Course 3) d. Lab Science – 2 years* (1 year life & 1 year physical) e. Language Other Than English – 2 years* (same language) f. Visual & Performing Arts – 1 year g. College Prep Elective – 1 year *additional years of subject recommended Must earn a “C” grade or better both semesters

Am I Eligible for UC? Minimum of 15 yearlong “a-g” courses in grades 9-12 Seven of these courses must be taken in the last two years of high school Minimum GPA of 3.0 in “a-g” coursework UC GPA calculation begins in 10 th grade SAT Reasoning Test or ACT with Writing Compare GPA & UC Score to determine eligibility

Am I Eligible for CSU? Minimum of 15 yearlong “a-g” courses in grades 9-12 Test scores required unless GPA above 3.0 and a resident of California Eligibility Index: CSU GPA x 800 + SAT Score OR CSU GPA x 200 + 10 x ACT Composite Score Students must have a minimum eligibility index of 2900 for admission to a CSU using SAT scores or a minimum of 694 using ACT score Many CSU campuses have higher standards due to impaction

Private Colleges & Universities Check individual admission requirements SAT or ACT with Writing usually required SAT Subject Tests may be required Most require essays, letters of recommendation, and transcript May require supplemental information (i.e. portfolio) Mid-year report submissions may be necessary
