Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S): Need to be Fun Celebrate the Clubs TRF Efforts Develop Publicity Encouraged and Open to the Community Have their own committee Raise Money for TRF Club Examples You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor. Aristotle

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction Club Overall Auction Results in 2014: Before the Fun began, how much was raised before it started?

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction Nearly 20% was raised before people showed up with zero out of pocket cost to the Club! The Slent Auction starts with getting items and services of Value by Internet and phone. Where to start? First, identify business who are already actively seeking new customers and proomtion. Visit event and festival sites or coupon and discount sites.

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction Use an approach letter to the company's e-mail contact found on their website describing who you are as a Rotary Club, the exposure their donated item or service will gain them, and the auction event and its promotion in your community. Develop bullet points for a phone follow up to the e- mail. Many e-mails will be quickly answered (to the positive), but many will require phone follow up refering to the letter and the details involved. Know what you are asking for. Specific suggestions are good: --Buy one Get one Free --50% off till DATE certain --Free Stay at hotel during low occupancy period --Other ideas...

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction Use a standard Rotary Auction procurement form: --Demonstrates credible organization --Keeps needed data organized --Can act as a receipt later for the donor business AND, be sure to say thank you once a donation is Promised and then when Received!!

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction LET THE FUN BEGIN – HOW TO AUCTION ITEMS BEFORE THE AUCTION Use Club Runner E-mail (get permission) and start 90 days before the Auction Event Date Use an exciting E-mail Auction Letter with multiple items looking for bids Auction Updates are intended to get bidding on each of the items Payment is required from the winning bidders at their next Rotary meeting

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Silent Auction All of this can be done from a home office. Most items or services are mailed and require no pick up. Results take time, but no money and everybody wins!

Raising Funds for TRF EVENT(S) Club Examples – Community Engagement Sometimes raising funds for TRF can also raise community awareness and target donations from non-Rotarians TRF has many notable and specific purposes to provide focus Such events can help educate and promote local membership

Raising Funds for TRF EASY METHODS AND MOTIVATION: Allow TRF Giving when members pay for lunch Allow giving via Credit Card (Club or TRF Direct) Keep Benefactor Cards at Lunch desk Note TRF giving option with Annual Dues Statement TRF Weekly Raffle – per Jim “Matching Specials” with Points or Cash I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world. Diogenes

Raising Funds for TRF CONSISTENT EDUCATION: Monthly Foundation 5 Minute Chats (Topics?) Guest Speakers (5020 Foundation Team, Officers, TRF Project Features, Etc.) - 2/yr! Foundation Quotes/Topics in Club Bulletin Bring members to District Events!! New Member Foundation Fireside Program – TRF Jeopardy! I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance. Socrates

Raising Funds for TRF EVALUATION AND INNOVATION: Every Rotary Year is a New Year Set Goals with Help (President, Board, Committee) Be aware of District TRF efforts and focus Avoid a Fundraising “rut” Steal Ideas from other Clubs @ District events! Was it Fun? Did something New Happen? It is not so much our friends' help that helps us, as the confidence of their help. Epicurus
