1 ROTARY BASICS FOUNDATION SEMINAR Annual Programs Fund

2 2014 What is it? The Annual Fund is the primary source of funding for all Foundation activities Contributions help strengthen peace efforts, provide clean water and sanitation, support education, grow local economies, save mothers and children, and fight disease.

3 2014 How it Works At the end of every Rotary year, contributions directed to the Annual Fund-SHARE from all Rotary clubs in the district are divided between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund, or DDF.

4 2014 How it Works When you donate to the Annual Fund- SHARE, a portion of those funds becomes available to our district each year through the District Designated Fund. At the end of three years, District 5300 can use this money to pay for Foundation, club, and district projects.

5 2014 Ways Clubs Can Give Hold a Fundraiser – BBQ – Skip-A-Meal – Walk-a-Thon – Bike-a-Thon – Conduct a raffle – Poker Tourney – Golf Tourney – Other Ideas

6 2014 Fundraiser – What have I let myself in for? Instead of worrying – Plan – Execute – Evaluate

7 2014 Chairman’s Planning Guide Primary Purpose. (What is the one reason you want to successfully run this project?) Give a brief description of the proposed project with specific goals List and describe the specific volunteer assignments

8 2014 Chairman’s Planning Guide List the specific materials, supplies and resources you’ll need, when you need them and who’s responsible Describe the potential problems and possible solutions to complete the project Complete a proposed budget indicating all anticipated income and expense

9 2014 Chairman’s Planning Guide List the specific steps to bring this project to a successful completion, showing planned dates for each step Record any revision of the original plan What changes or recommendations do you have for a future chairman?

10 2014 Chairman’s Planning Guide And last but not least … Record specific and measurable results for each goal established - describing the impact of the project on the club, individual members, and the community

13 2014 What else do I need to know? Why People Give – Sense of obligation – Status – Guilt – Recognition – Legacy – And much more

14 2014 What else do I need to know? What are my responsibilities to the donor? – Understand and balance their needs with those of Rotary … get to know them – Be honest – Ask when the time is right – Deliver what you promise – Say “thank you!”

15 2014 How do I ask? Make an appointment and be clear why your coming Say thanks for any past support Note the prospective donor’s interest in the cause Reiterate the goal you and your fellow Rotarians have
