2 What makes an application complete??? There are five documents that start the process…

3 What makes an application complete??? 1.Application (0115 form) 2.Current BCI report- no older than 60 days 3.Current BMV abstract - no older than 60 days 4.Physical (0117 form)- no older than one year 5.BMV 2024 (Instructor test)

4 What makes an application complete??? There are five types of supporting documents that complete it…

5 What are supporting Documents? The purpose: to support and show the training the candidate completed in Phase 4 1.Lesson plans (BTW and class) 2.Assessments (BTW and class)- signed and dated by TM and candidate 3.Route sheet 4.Student BTW training report- initialed by candidate and TM 5.Class roster- signed by candidate

6 Phase training Phase 1 consists of... - classroom observation - 24 hours Phase 2 consists of… - BTW observation, observing a student being taught by an instructor, candidate teaching a competent instructor or driving with an experienced BTW instructor teaching - 8-10 hours

7 Phase training continued Phase 3 consists of… - training manager and candidate with a competent instructor assisting - practice teaching - at least 3 hours - administration - all required topics pertain to lesson

8 Phase training- Final Phase Phase 4 – the “test” phase - at least 60 minutes of BTW and at least 60 minutes of classroom WITH students - if only BTW or classroom – at least 3 to 5 hours of each Training Manager must be present and assessing!

9 What type of instructor??? Phase 4 determines what type of instructor the candidate intends to be… Are they both BTW and class? Are they BTW or classroom only? It is important in Phase 3 to practice teach both BECAUSE the driving portion and class portion relate to each other

10 These applications are confusing and may be returned What can we do to correct these possible problems???

11 Fix it… Do not count break times- you can show them Overlapping times/ times being counted twice 1.Use the dash (-) Indicates knowledge that this was covered at the same date as another class and is not being counted twice

12 Still fixing it… 1.Break down the times 2.Document as you go - a useful tool is a sheet of paper and pen

13 How to avoid the approximate time crazies… Check lesson plans! Are you covering some of this lesson on another day??? All the approved curriculums are based off the Ohio Driver Training Curriculum
