2  The IT industry is an exciting and constantly changing one with a wide range of opportunities – from working in computer games development to working with robotic systems or supporting scientists in combating global warming. The opportunities are endless.  Your BTEC Level 3 National in Information Technology is a vocational or work-related qualification. This doesn’t mean that it will give you all the skills you need to do a job, but it does mean that you’ll have the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to your future career.

5  BTECs are assessed by a series of assignments that set by your tutors. Assignments are usually based around a real-life vocational setting.  Learners will complete assignments by given deadlines throughout their course, either individually or in groups. (However, for group assessment each learner is given opportunities to individually produce evidence for each assessment criterion.)

6  Assignments are graded Pass, Merit, Distinction. (P,M,D)  To obtain a Pass in a unit all ‘P’ criteria must be met  To obtain a Merit all ‘M’ criteria must be met  To obtain a Distinction all ‘D’ criteria must be met
