2 Safety Plan Reminder: ALL DOORS should remain in the locked position throughout the school day. Thank you for reassuring our students. Rumors: Encourage students to report information to a trusted adult. How much information is appropriate to share? Feedback from parents is mostly positive Live news coverage was shown in some classrooms on Friday – please use your best judgment when sharing information with students – some inaccurate information my have been reported.

3 RTI Presentation Andrea Czerwinski is the RTI coordinator The Student Support Team meets on a regular basis to review discipline, attendance and academic issues.

4 Please write in complete sentences. ELA and Math assessment information was released from the state. Students will need to write in complete sentences on the ELA assessment to receive full credit. 5 ELA Short Response Rubric 2-Point Rubric—Short-Response Score Response Features 2 Point The features of a 2-point response are Valid inferences and/or claims from the text where required by the prompt Evidence of analysis of the text where required by the prompt Relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, and/or other information from the text to develop response according to the requirements of the prompt Sufficient number of facts, definitions, concrete details, and/or other information from the text as required by the prompt Complete sentences where errors do not impact readability 1 Point The features of a 1-point response are A mostly literal recounting of events or details from the text as required by the prompt Some relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, and/or other information from the text to develop response according to the requirements of the prompt Incomplete sentences or bullets 0 Point The features of a 0-point response are A response that does not address any of the requirements of the prompt or is totally inaccurate No response (blank answer) A response that is not written in English A response that is unintelligible or indecipherable  If the prompt requires two texts and the student only references one text, the response can be scored no higher than a 1.

Here are a few ideas submitted by CUSD teachers to the Coaches Corner: Walking five steady steps Counting on fingers while students think Tapping your leg Use wait/think time ball (click here for information on where to purchase a Flashing Timer Ball)Flashing Timer Ball Pacing the front of the room Say a nursery rhyme in your head Shuffling your random selection sticks/cards 3x’srandom selection Look out at all the students’ faces (1/2 a room at a time) Read the question in your head 3 times Hold up three fingers for the shape of a W and wait 5 seconds Have kids who want to piggy back onto last person’s response give a thumbs-in sign to continue where the friend left off, adding to their comments Wait for the buzz to die down (during Think-Pair-Share)Think-Pair-Share
