2. We can know God through his creation All creation has a maker– we believe God is the maker of our universe. St. Paul – discover God through nature God is generous and kind– nature teaches us this. God continues to tell us about our selves and wants us to use our talents wisely.

Divine Revelation- God reveals himself to us. 1.Mighty deeds 2.Interacts with people throughout history- Jewish salvation history 3.Creation 4.Sent his son God wants a relationship with ALL people Blessed Trinity- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit helps us respond to God’s love and to understand Divine Revelation

4. Tradition- handing down stories and memories, either written or oral. Teachings, practices, creeds (statements of beliefs). Bible- written record of God and his relationship with man– revelation. Bible-many authors who were guided by the Holy Spirit ( divine inspiration)- word of God.

Magisterium- pope and bishops- teaching office of the Church Bible- (books) collection of 73 books Divided in Old Testament ( 46 books- God’s relationship with his people) and New Testament ( 27 books- Jesus and the early church. Literary forms (writing styles)- folktales, history, letters, poetry, and others.

6. Old Testament- took thousands of years to compile or put together 1.Penteteuch- 5 books that also are Jewish Torah 2.Historical books 3.Wisdom books 4.Prophetic books New Testament-took 60-70 years to compile Gospels- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John Letters and Other Writings.
