The Los Angeles Region is the second largest Red Cross region in the nation, with 13 locations serving more than 9 million people (over 270 neighborhoods) in a 19,000 square mile area. Our volunteers and staff are prepared to respond around the clock, 365 days a year to assure that Red Cross services are provided when they are needed.*

8. PrepareLA: The Campaign to Prepare the Los Angeles Area for Disaster
PrepareLA is the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region’s 3-year campaign, launching in 2012, to engage Los Angeles in preparing for a catastrophic disaster. With support from individuals, organizations, businesses and government agencies, our goal is to create more resilient communities , better equipped to help each other prevent, prepare for, and respond to life-threatening disasters.

Provisions, sheltering, and training are the Red Cross’ criteria for assessing a community’s disaster resiliency. Areas of engagement consist of American Red Cross Los Angeles Region activities geared to support preparedness and the goals outlined in PrepareLA. Opportunities range from individual to county level involvement with the Red Cross.
