10. Ethanol Today Where can we get it? 2007 MN and OR require all gasoline to have at least 10% ethanol. 8 other states are in process of requiring ethanol in all gasoline. Utah-adds 10% ethanol to reduce the emission levels and raise the octane level of the fuel. Brazil started switching over to E85 in 1973 and now does not have to import any oil for transportation. The use of ethanol has recently expanded to the various blends from E20, E40, and E85
