2 “from Night” - Elie Wiesel  Read “from Night” on pg. 818-827.  Create three vertical columns on the top half of a sheet of paper. Title the first excerpt 1, the second excerpt 2, and the third excerpt 3.  For excerpt 1 – discuss what you feel causes Madame Schachter’s visions.  For excerpt 2 – discuss how Akiba Drummer “begun to die” when he starts to lose faith in God?  For excerpt 3 – discuss why it is ironic that Rabbi Eliahou will “continue to look for his beloved son”?  Underneath your columns, answer the following questions: 1. What do you think kept Wiesel from giving up? 2. What message is Wiesel communicating by telling us his story?

3 “from April in Germany” - Margaret Bourke-White  Read “from April in Germany” on pg. 861.  On the back of your “Night” assignment, answer the following: 1. What claims were made by the German civilians when seeing the concentration camps? 2. Why do you believe the German civilians were so eager to make these types of claims? 3. What claims were made by the Holocaust victims about the German civilians? Turn in your paper, when you are finished. We will discuss Monday before the test. Test Monday regarding lecture notes on Cont. Literature AND WWII Literature (“A Noiseless Flash”, “from Night”, and “from April in Germany”)
