7 7 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION Currently---114 courses on BCIS 87 courses bought by providers (76%) 27 developed by private providers (24%) 9 private providers have submitted courses FBC NOT IN COURSE DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS

8 8 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION By October 2008, most courses developed using the 2001 and 2004 codes (and supplements), probably won’t be able to be updated Easier to create course from scratch Providers must develop courses---it was never intention of FBC to develop courses

9 9 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION Course materials must be PDF format to be placed on BCIS (Course application) Use ADOBE Acrobat (Not just Reader)

10 10 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION (a) Course Title/Number (Advanced should be in title); (b) Hours of Credit; (c) Provider Information (Name, Address, Telephone Number, E-mail address) (no bio); (d) Course Description (appropriate for course). This course is designed to ……….; (e) Course/Learning Objectives; (f) Course Time (Time allotments for course content)

11 11 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION (g) Course Outline/Instructional Methods….detailed description of course content in sequence of how taught and methods used to teach that content. The following Instructional methods may be used, but not limited to: exercises, quizzes, discussion groups, reading assignments, projects, simulations, and presentations; (h) Code edition;

12 12 COURSE DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION (i) Course references cited in the outline; (j) Course Evaluations. (k)A minimum of 50% of the actual training materials content shall be code related.

13 13 COURSE UPDATES Providers shall have 60 calendar days from the date of the code adoption to update existing accredited courses that are affected by the code changes and submit for reaccreditation. Existing courses may continue to be delivered during the 60 calendar day period. The code version that initiated the update and reaccreditation process must be noted on the application.

19 19 COURSE SUBMITTAL FOR FBC APPROVAL The application shall be accredited completely and placed in the “Pending FBC Action” file on the Building Code Information System at www.floridabuilding.org no later than 23 calendar days prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Florida Building Commission. www.floridabuilding.org
