1 WARM UP  Read the article titled “Acid Rain”. Then answer the following questions.  1. Think back to the 5 themes of geo. Which theme does this article most greatly show? Explain.  2. Do you think it’s possible for such industrialized places (like the U.S., China, part of Europe) to cut back on emissions that can lead to acid rain? Explain.

2 CREATE YOUR OWN MAP!  Create a map of a place you love. Maybe this is your house, your room, the school, a park, the mall, a city, state, country, anything!

3 MAPS! Different kinds, projections and more!

4 WHAT EVERY MAP NEEDS  T – Title (relating to subject of map)  O – Orientation (directions/compass rose)  D – Date (when the map was drawn)  A – Author (who made the map)  L – Legend (What symbols on the map mean)  S – Scale (The size of space on the map)

5 COMPASS – N, E, S, W  North  East  South  West

6 MAP STATIONS  In groups of 4, start at the station you are assigned to.  You will have 7 min per station to get all the questions answered.  Make sure you are on the correct page when answering the questions – each station is different!  “MAP QUESTIONS” – look at the map in the folder to answer these.  “QUESTIONS ABOUT MAP TYPE” – look at paragraphs to answer these.

7 WARM UP – 9/9/13  Read the Peru article (sitting on the stool by the desk) and answer the following questions  What do they suspect this weather has been triggered by?  Why do some people have to move to higher altitudes?  What is the main ideas of this article?

13 CREATE YOUR OWN MAP  NOW- Take out the map you made at the beginning of class. Does it have what every map needs? TODALS? Make it better by adding color and anything else that will make it like a map we studied.  Remember the map types – physical, climate, topographic, thematic, economic, political.
