2.  The Mozilla Firefox project was created by Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross as an experimental branch of the Mozilla project. Firefox 1.0 was released on November 9, 2004. Firefox 1.5 was released on November 29, 2005. Version 2.0 was released on October 24, 2006 and Firefox 3.0 was released on June 17, 2008. Version 3.5 was released on June 30, 2009 and Version 3.6 was released on January 21, 2010.  The project which became Firefox started as an experimental. When sufficiently developed, binaries for public testing appeared in September 2002 under the name Phoenix.  The Phoenix name was retained until April 14, 2003  The name, "Firefox", was chosen for its similarity to "Firebird” in December 2003

3.  Speed. Firefox is reported to be the fastest browser when it comes to download speed. Not only do programs and files download faster, but you get a record of all your downloads in the form of a table, so you can erase or move them at your convenience.  Security. Firefox has some advanced security measures that protect your computer from spyware and even certain viruses. Firefox also comes with a state- of-the-art popup blocker that stops almost 100 percent of pop-up's.  Tabbed browsing and other advanced features. Tabbed browsing allows you to open an unlimited number of pages in a single window, thus helping you organize your browsing.

4.  Compatibility issues. The main disadvantage of Firefox® is compatibility. Some websites do not show properly in Firefox.  Memory. Firefox® takes a lot of memory to run. Even with an up-to-date computer, you may find that it becomes hard to run Firefox along with a couple of programs..  Interrupted service. Another disadvantage of Firefox® is that downloads cannot be resumed if interrupted.

5.  Firefox is not perfect software, but its vulnerabilities are fixed in a considerably shorter amount of time.  Since Firefox is open source.  ActiveX applets, the way IE extends the functionality of the browser, are a known highway for malware and viruses.  Firefox uses a service provided by Google that notifies the user before entering a potentially malicious web site.
