FDR committed the United States to the defeat of the fascist powers of Germany, Japan, and Italy, and led the nation and its allies to the brink of victory.

FDR admired his 5 th cousin Theodore Roosevelt.

He was the only American President who was able to be elected more than two terms. He served Four terms.

Franklin married his cousin, Eleanor Roosevelt.

Roosevelt led the United States through two of the greatest crises of the 20th century: the Great Depression and World War II!

Suffering from poliomyelitis, FDR was almost totally paralyzed and he was never again to recover full use of his legs
