7. Franklin married his cousin, Eleanor Roosevelt.

8. Roosevelt led the United States through two of the greatest crises of the 20th century: the Great Depression and World War II!

9. Suffering from poliomyelitis, FDR was almost totally paralyzed and he was never again to recover full use of his legs
