Early Political Career Two Terms in the New York State Legislature (1910-1912). Assistant Secretary of Navy under Woodrow Wilson (1913-1919). Runs as VP Candidate with James Cox in 1920 Presidential Election. Elected Governor of New York (1928).

Election of 1932 Herbert Hoover – Republican Incumbent F.D.R. – Democratic Candidate, he wins the nomination on the fourth ballot at the Democratic Convention. Conditions in the U.S. 13 million Americans out of work. Moral in the country is low. Many feel a change in party leadership is needed.
