Builds cognitive skills in the context of the following pre-reading skills –Letter recognition –Understanding of the alphabetic principle –Knowledge of letter-sound associations –Phonemic awareness Protocol: 30 minutes per day for 12 – 16 weeks

17 © 2005 Scientific Learning Corporation Fast ForWord to Reading Prep Correlates to English-Language Arts Content Standards: Kindergarten – Reading –Recognize and name uppercase and lowercase letters –Track and represent changes in simple syllables and words –Separate spoken one-syllable words into beginning or ending sounds. –Match all consonant and short-vowel sounds to appropriate letters. –Understand that as letters of words change, so do the sounds First Grade – Reading –Distinguish initial, medial, and final sounds in single-syllable words.
