2.  Poets, authors, and song writers use these as tools.  Educated people recognize and appreciate these.  These have to do with repeating word sounds.

3. Repetition of a consonant sound that is NOT at the beginning of the word. Examples: All ma mm als na m ed Sa m are cla mm y. I dropped the bla ck ne ck lace in the thi ck mud. The do v e mo v ed smoothly abo v e the wa v es.

4. In more modern verse, consonance is frequently used as a rhythmic device in modern music. "Ra p re j e c ts my ta p e de ck, e j e c ts p ro j e c tile.” -Fugees

5. Repetition of vowel sound within words that do NOT rhyme. Examples: I m a de my w ay down to the l a ke to l ay out my fishing gear. We heard the m e llow w e dding b e lls e cho. He looked ar ou nd at the cl ou ds above with ou t a s ou nd.

6. In more modern verse, stressed assonance is also frequently used as a rhythmic device in modern rap.  "Their pens and p a ds I sn a tch 'cause I've h a d it / I'm not a n a ddict, fiending for st a tic / I see their tape recorder and I gr a b it / No, you c a n't h a ve it b a ck, silly r a bbit." -Public Enemy  “I b o mb at o mically—S o crates' phil o sophies and hyp o theses can't define how I be dr o ppin' these m o ckeries.” -Wu-Tang Clan  “And s i nce b i rth I’ve been c u rsed w i th th i s c u rse to just c u rse/And just bl u rt this b e rs e rk and b i zarre stuff that w o rks.” -Eminem

7.  Consonance is repetition of consonant sound at the middle or end of words that do NOT rhyme.  Assonance is repetition of vowel sounds in side of words that do NOT rhyme.
