2 What were the most important achievements of the four Mesopotamian empires?

3 The long reign of Sargon began around 2300 BCE…..
✺ Sargon built the first capital city and named it Agade ✺ Sargon assembled a very large army and used military strategies to conquer neighboring cities ✺ Sargon was the first ruler to decree that his sons would rule after him

4 Hammurabi and his code of laws….
✺ Hammurabi was responsible for writing the first set of laws that everyone needed to follow ✺ Hammurabi’s code covered many situations including trade, marriage, divorce, payment for work and punishment for crimes ✺ Hammurabi made god the Marduk supreme as well as creating roads and postal service.

5 The babylonian empire did not last long, soon the assyrians took over and brought with them a new age

6 The Babylonian empire did not last long, soon the Assyrians took over and brought with them a new age…. ✺ One of the Assyrians greatest achievements was their incredibly complex war strategies and their weapons ✺ They were also famous for their invention of the battering ram ✺ When the Assyrian Empire was in it’s prime it stretched from Egypt to the Persian Gulf

7 Soon the Babylonians returned and created the neo-Babylonian empire..
✺Nebuchadrezzar was the new ruler of the Neo-Babylonian Empire and he drove the egyptians out of Syria as well as conquering part of Canaan ✺ Nebuchadrezzar rebuilt the capital cities’ Ziggurat as well as creating the Hanging Gardens Of Babylon ✺ The Neo-Babylonians created the first sundial
