3 Slave Trade Primary traders of slaves  British, French, Spanish, and Portuguese 4,000,000 went to Carribean (West Indies) 3,600,000 went to Brazil 500,000 went to United States majority were male slaves disease (smallpox were significant issues)

5 Haitian Revolution (1791-1804) In 1791, Haiti produced 60% of all the world’s coffee and 40% of its sugar Haitian population: 40,000 whites 28,000 free blacks 450,000 slaves The only successful slave revolt in history  only free African nation in the Americas.

7 Pretend you are a West African about to be sold into slavery- you happen to have a “nice” slave trader who allows you to choose WHERE in the Americas he will sell you to, whether you work in the CITY or in the PLANTATIONS, as well as WHO you are sold to. In a short paragraph, explain where and for whom you would choose to work for if you had the chance. In a second paragraph, explain who and where you would definitely NOT want to work and why. Finally, explain whether you would rather be a female or male slave and why.
