1 Wednesday, February 6, 2013 16.1 Voyages of Columbus: 1.WHO is the first European credited with reaching the Americas? 2.WHAT COUNTRY paid for his voyage? 3.WHO were the KING and QUEEN of that country? 4.Give the YEAR of the first voyage. 5.Name the TREATY (spell best as possible) that divided the world in half? 6.Give ONE WORD to describe the travels of Magellan. 1.Take out notebook – answer these now – you should know them, but they are in 16.1 if you need to look 2.You will need to READ & TAKE NOTES (in your own style) 16.1 for tomorrow

6 16.1 Cause & Effect Christopher Columbus' voyages triggered many changes in cultures for both worlds in Europe: in Americas: Spanish Conquistadors went to colonize the Americas Aztec emperor Moctezuma treats Cortés with respect because they think he's a god (2 reasons) Conquistadores easily defeat Aztecs and Incas (section 2 )
